Pastor - Clark's Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church
Clark's Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church held its first service in 1902 and is one of the oldest churches in the East Tennessee area. We have had 38 pastors to date. The church has no debt, a comfortable budget, and a charming sanctuary/building facility. The congregation could be considered a rather young body, with very few members that are over 70 and no home-bound or nursing home members at this time. Average worship attendance is around 50. Most of our members are in the work force with a majority being educators. We have a great love of music in the worship service and use video in leading both traditional hymns and contemporary praise songs in worship.
Clark's Grove enjoys several special events: traditional Easter Egg hunt, worship services on the grounds, Trunk-or-Treat observance for the community, fantastic VBS programs, a traditional drive-thru nativity at Christmas, the Hanging of the Greens Service, ladies CPW monthly meetings, camps, and monthly fellowship dinners.
The church seeks an energetic and practiced speaker with knowledge of the Bible. We have many scholars in our membership and love a Bible teacher. We currently have few youth but would love a pastor who could spark that program. Our services always provide great music and we have several talented soloists. The youth participate with handbells. We have had pastors who did not live in the area and commuted to the church—but we desire a local pastor who could participate in the community and in civic opportunities to promote our church. We will consider a tent-making arrangement for a minister so inclined.
The congregation has both a website, clarksgrovechurch.org, and a presence on Facebook.
Any interested parties may contact session clerk and pastor search committee chair Lynn Waters by email, or by using any of the following contact information:
