Rush elected Moderator of 182nd GA

In its first major piece of business this afternoon, the 182nd General Assembly of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, meeting in Florence, AL, elected Rev. Robert D. Rush by acclamation to the office of Moderator. Rev. Troy Green was elected Vice Moderator, also by acclamation. Joined by his wife of 54 years, Olene, Rev. Rush thanked the Assembly for "high privilege" that it has afforded him.

Prior to Rev. Rush's election, the Assembly had been opened with prayer by Dr. Jay Earheart-Brown, and was welcomed by both pastor-host Gary Tubb and Florence mayor Bobby Irons. Rev. Elton Hall, moderator of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America, and Lynn Herring, that body's Executive Director, brought greetings, and expressed appreciation for the opportunity to participate.
